New Administrator Committed to Transparency and Accountability
Ankeny
Stephen Larson begins his 4-year term as Administrator of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division on May 1, 2010. He was appointed by Governor Culver in February and confirmed by the Iowa Senate in March.
Larson replaces former Administrator Lynn Walding, who has served since 2000. “I plan to build upon the strong foundation Mr. Walding has established over the last decade,” said Larson. “I am looking forward to the next four years.”
Larson has over 25 years of state government experience and most recently served as Deputy Treasurer in the Office of Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald. During his time with the Treasurer’s Office, Larson was administrator of the popular Great Iowa Treasure Hunt and served on a number of boards and commissions including Vision Iowa, I-Jobs and the Iowa Accountability and Transparency Board.
“Stephen Larson is the perfect choice to lead the Alcoholic Beverages Division,” said Governor Culver. “He brings to this position a commitment to transparency and accountability, as well as years of service protecting the taxpayers of Iowa.”
Larson has received national acclaim for his work in unclaimed property and served two terms as President of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators. The West Burlington native is a graduate of William Penn University in Oskaloosa and currently resides in Johnston with his wife, Jane.
