License Seal
Beginning May 2004, new liquor licenses will bear the official Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division seal. The addition of the seal is part of an overall Division effort to certify the authenticity of the license, prevent illegal duplication, enhance the license’s aesthetic appearance, and provide law enforcement officials with a quick reference when conducting bar checks. E-Licensing
In a move to streamline and enhance services, the Division is
in the process of rolling out an electronic liquor licensing system.
Under the the E-Licensing system, the entire licensing process has
been moved online, including the application, local authority approval,
dram shop verification, state approval and payment. The only paper
used is for printing the license itself. The Division offers training
for local authorities who approve liquor licenses and online tutorials
to help applicants navigate the system.
Combination License
Off-premises liquor establishments will now have fewer licenses to hang on the wall. The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division, in an effort to enhance efficiency, has combined the off-premise liquor license and all additional privileges into one license.
