
The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division generates significant revenue for
the state and local authorities from the licensing, regulation, taxation
and wholesaling of alcohol. On May 20, 2005, the Division ecliped a grand
total of $1 billion in revenue transferred to state coffers. Last fiscal
year, FY 2006, the Division generated and transferred $83.250 million, making
for grand total of $1,094,821,000 transferred since 1988.
The graph below depicts the amount of funds transferred by the Iowa
Alcoholic Beverages Division since state liquor stores were closed on
July 1, 1987, through the end of fiscal year 2006.
